BUSINESS
All sessions on budgeting, selling, marketing, and promoting your camp. This track also covers technology, fundraising, succession planning and the economy.
CAMPERS
All sessions relating to working with children and youth in the camp setting covering theories and best practices. Other areas of interest include: special needs, homesickness, bullying and gossip, CIT/LIT programs, behavioral challenges and teaching the value of the camp experience.
COMMUNITY
All sessions relating to working with parents, boards and donors, volunteers, neighbors, schools, agencies, city/town officials and alumni.
OPERATIONS
All sessions relating to the management of your site including insurance, facility maintenance, purchasing, emergency planning, transportation, food service and nurse management.
PROGRAM AND ACTIVITIES
All sessions relating to the ways in which we organize and execute our camp programs and activities. These include regular activity programming, special events, electives, and practical issues and curricula related to instruction in sports, arts, adventure, and waterfront operation.
STAFF LEADERSHIP
Sessions within this category fall into two areas: those relating to staff hiring, training and management; and those relating to camp leadership theory and practice, cultivation, vision, ethics, community building and establishing - or changing - camp culture.
VOCE (Veterans of the Camp Experience)
VOCE sessions serve those camp professionals who have been in management roles at camp for at least twelve consecutive years with ultimate operational authority.
VOCE PRESENTS
These sessions are led by members of the group Veterans of the Camp Experience. Each presenter has at least twelve years' experience as the chief operating officer of his or her camp. VOCE Presents sessions are open to all attendees at the Conference. Come learn from the people who have seen it all.
EPIC (Emerging Professionals in Camping)
Emerging Professionals in Camping is a network of young people who seek to engage with peers in the camp industry. EPIC is dedicated to providing a forum for networking and career development through conferences, workshops and social events.
EPIC seeks to…
- Address the educational and social networking needs of camp employees who are rising in our industry (i.e. new directors, assistant/associate directors, other full time positions, seasonal employees, and other camp professionals who just entered or wish to enter the camp industry).
- Provide programs that are interactive, innovative, social and germane to where individuals are in their careers.
- Create experiential opportunities for EPICs to learn, network, and give back within the camp world.
